Few women activists busted out at the professor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) who recently gave a triple talaq to his wife Yasmeen Khalid on WhatsApp and previously via text message, in spite of the announcement of Supreme Court declaring it to be illicit.
Women activist Nilanjana Chakraborty said:
“IF LITERATE PEOPLE LIKE AS PROFESSORS FROM THE REPUTED UNIVERSITIES WOULD DO SUCH THINGS, THEN HOW BACKWARD IT CAN BE. REGARDLESS OF HOW EDUCATED AN INDIVIDUAL IS, THEY HAVE BASIC RELIGIOUS ZEAL INSIDE”.
Rekha Sharma, National Commission for Women (NCW) chief has ordered a strict action against the senior professor Khalid Bin Yusuf Khan who had allegedly divorced his wife.
“HE WAS PROBABLY SEARCHING AN EXCUSE TO DO IT. IT IS VERY SHOCKING THAT HOW CAN PROFESSOR DISOBEY THE DIKTAT OF SUPREME COURT. IT IS SOMETHING THAT REQUIRES TO BE SEEN, AND STRICT PUNISHMENTS ARE NEEDED TO BE TAKEN AGAINST HIM, SO THAT IN FUTURE, THERE IS NO SUCH TYPE OF INCIDENTS. ONE HAS TO FOLLOW THE LAW”.
Later on, professor Khalid Bin gave a verbal divorce to Yasmeen Khalid when he came home with their three children.
In fact, the divorced women also threatened to commit suicide and murder of her three children in front of the Tariq Mansoor residence (Vice Chancellor) if she doesn’t get justice by date December 11, 2017.
On August 22, in a decision, the Supreme Court in the matter of 3-2 move eliminated the old practice of instant triple talaq amongst the Indian Muslim women as manifestly arbitrary, unconstitutional, and invalid in law.
The victim approached the police earlier and complained against the culprit for “torturing” her and even locking his house to prevent her from entering. She has also appealed in writing to PM Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
