UAE Billionaire would invest Rs 1000 Cr to make the new edition of ‘Mahabharata’.
The epic narrative of the future of the Pandavas and the Kauravas and one of the two chief Sanskrit epics of ancient India Mahabharata which has been made into TV series in the past are now being made into a film and look like it is going to be bigger than ever.
Chairman of NMC Healthcare and UAE Exchange and an Indian businessman B R Shetty is investing Rs. 1000 cr (USD 150 million) to produce the film.
Moreover, V A Shrikumar Menon, a famous ad director is making the movie, which will be released in two-parts.
Actually, the best of the talents available all over the world are working on the film as some of the cast and the crew include Academy Award winners as well.
“This Mahabharata series will have an identity across continents, with their spokespersons put on the infinite characters in ‘The Mahabharata’! A worldwide team led by an internationally famous casting filmmaker will handpick the cast.”
“The movie will be shot basically in Hindi, Malayalam, English, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil and will be dubbed into main Indian languages and leading foreign languages,” said Shetty.

He added: “I am confident that Mahabharata series will be altered in over 100 languages and got over three billion people all over the world.”
Commenting on the initiative, Padma Bhushan awardee and noted Malayalam writer M T Vasudevan Nair, recipient of almost every literary award in India, including Jnanpith Award and many abroad, said:
“He was very joyful with Shetty’s belief in the story’s passion, potential and his commitment to take it to international audiences.”
