A killer landslide on the busy Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway on Saturday (2nd September 2017) buried around eight vehicles and destroyed three houses and a Shiv temple, the police said.
Thankfully, no one is injured in the incident. The incident happened near Dhalli tunnel, near to Shimla.
The tragedy was caught on camera, and the videos showed a heap of rubble falling on the road and sweeping away few vehicles while trapping falling off mountainside and others under the debris.

The Shimla landslide came just weeks after another major landslide hit the Mandi district that killed around 40 people.

A police officer said:
“A PORTION OF CLIFF OPPOSITE TO THE TEMPLE NEAR BHATTAKUFER CAVED IN. BOULDERS ROLLED DOWN AN SMASHSED SIXS-EVEN VEHICLES PARKED ALONG THE HIGHWAY.”
At least Six Vehicles suppressed and 15 families relocated…!!
He further added:
Nearly fifteen families are shifted to safer places as many houses on a hill top were of the risk. The area has been seeing a massive rainfall for the past three days.

Due to the massive landslide on the National Highway, the Dhalli-Shoghi road is blocked and many trucks loaded with apples and headed to 3 km from the incident spot, Bhattakufar Subzi Mandi, was vacated.
The administration is doing its utmost to help people….!!
The Shimla police have diverted the traffic via Sanjauli, on the periphery of Shimla.
The highway connects Shimla with tourist destinations such as Naldhera and Kufri and the apple-growing belts of Jubbal, Kharapathar, Narkanda and the whole Kinnaur district.
Rohan Chand Thakur, Shimla Deputy Commissioner, said that heavy machinery had been deployed to eliminate the debris and remove the blocked road.
