Indian Wushu Team Clinched 6 Medals At First Ever BRICS Games..!!✌

Guangzhou (China): India won six medals including two golds, two silvers and two bronzes in the WUSHU competition at the first ever BRICS Games, which held here on Monday.

Indian Wushu players gave difficult competition to Wushu’s powerhouses Russia and China with other two teams South Africa and Brazil.

On Sunday, M. Gyandas clinched the gold medal, L. Sanatgombhi Chanu won bronze and M. Bidheswari Devi won silver in Taijiquan/Taijijian event.

And on Monday, the second and last day of Wushu 2017 events, the Indian team won three more medals including one gold, one bronze and one silver in the Five-Nation Wushu completion 2017.

Anjul Namdev won the gold medal in Changquan overall event, Sajan Lama clinched the bronze medal in Nanquan all round Event and Ng. Toshibala won silver in Women’s Changquan event.

Indian athletes made the whole country proud once again in the national as well as in international events.

The first edition of the BRICS Games 2017 was started on Saturday.

It included approximately 300 athletes from five different countries- Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa with ten events in 3 sports i.e women’s volleyball, men’s basketball and Wushu.

Particularly, the launch of the first BRICS Games was decided as an essential consensus reached at the 8th BRICS summit in Goa last October.


However, China will host the 9th BRICS summit in the month of September this year in the coastal city of Xiamen in the province Fujian.
