While bagging top position, Virat Kohli garnered 889 runs breaking cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s recorded (887 points) in the 3rd ODI held in Kanpur.
The Indian team beat New Zealand held and made only 331 runs.With two centuries and their fantastic bowling, the team of India gave NZ a difficult time.
Rohit Sharma did best, and he made century with a whopping 147 runs. For his remarkable innings, Rohit Sharma was not far behind from Indian skipper and captain Kohli.
He also gave a remarkable performance with a total of 113 runs. Coming to New Zealand’s inning, Jasprit Bumrah made it hard for the batsmen to survive on the field.
Guptill, Latham, Taylor, Santner, and Jasprit played his part in the triumph by dismissing them all. Though India had Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in their best form, New Zealand too had players who played outstandingly well.
Colin also managed to make a half-century, scoring 75 runs. The men in blue even clicked a picture with their second ODI trophy. Earlier, they beat Australia.
On Sunday, 32nd ODI century of Kohli not only helped India to win the series against NZ by 2-1 but also set him back on top of the ICC Rankings for the batsmen in 1-day international cricket.
However, Kohli lost the top position to AB de Villiers of South Africa who is now at number two position on the list with nearly 872 points, ten days ago. David Warner who is Australia’s vice-captain is at the number third with total 865 points.
The latest rankings update takes into account India team home series against New Zealand, the last match of the SA-Bangladesh series and the previous two matches of the Pak-Sri Lanka series.

28-Year-Old Delhi batsman scored 263 runs in the series against NZ, including 121 knocks in the first ODI held in Mumbai and 113 in the final ODI match. Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is up one place to 11th, while NZ batsman Tom Latham has done well in the series.
