Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Resigns As CEO


Travis Kalanick is the key person who is the founded Uber in 2009. After many ups and downs, he finally decided to resign from the company. One of the main spokespeople of Uber confirmed this news that Kalanick will no longer be the part of Uber.

According to reports five of Uber’s most important investors wrote a letter which title was “Moving Uber Forward.” This letter recommends that the CEO should step aside as soon as possible. After hours of long discussion, Travis Kalanick agreed to leave his CEO post.

Travis Kalanick gave a statement to Times:

I love Uber more than anything in the world and at this difficult moment in my personal life, I have accepted the investors request to step aside so that Uber can go back to building rather than be distracted by another fight.

Now Travis Kalanick is out from CEO position but he is still holding the position of the board of directors. Board members gave a statement on this:

Travis has always put Uber first. This is a bold decision and a sign of his devotion and love for Uber. By stepping away, he’s taking the time to heal from his personal tragedy while giving the company room to fully embrace this new chapter in Uber’s history. We look forward to continuing to serve with him on the board.

Recently in the previous week, he took leave of absence from Uber company. He took a leave because of Uber’s toxic company culture by Eric Holder who is former Attorney General. He mentioned the reason that his family is suffering from an internal issue. He stated that:

…I need to take some time off of the day-to-day to grieve my mother, whom I buried on Friday, to reflect, to work on myself, and to focus on building out a world-class leadership team.

Currently Uber has raised more than eleven million dollars in funding. Company’s most recent raise is reported whooping $70 billion. However, Silicon Valley investors told that they will follow the founder direction and still stands up with in most turbulent times.
