India won the fifth and final ODI against West Indies by 8 wickets. All thanks to the brilliant century by Indian skipper Virat Kohli who clinched the five-match series 3-1.
This was Kohli’s 18th ODI 100 in a chase, and 28th overall. He is now behind Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar on the list of most ODI tons.
Kohli continues to score tons in chase….!!
In January 2017, The Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries in successful chases and now he has once again broken master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
It was Kohli’s 18th century in a chase, going past Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 17….!
Kohli’s 28th ODI ton puts him in the third spot in the list of most ODI hundred in the 50-over format while chasing.

Kohli produced a batting masterclass to slam his 28th ODI ton in the 5th ODI against the opponent West Indies at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
Man of the Match is none other than Virat Kohli….
However, the total difference between the two stalwarts in the case of chasing is really shocking….!!
While Virat Kohli has taken just 102 innings to reach 18 centuries, Sachin Tendulkar took 232 innings to score 17 hundred.
Tillakaratne Dilshan is at the Third spot who scored 11 centuries in 116 innings while batting second….!!
Kohli also became the first Indian captain to score the two hundred against the West Indies in the Caribbean.
However, in the past, the only cricketer is Rahul Dravid who had scored a hundred as an Indian captain in the Caribbean against the West Indies.
Overall, this is Virat Kohli’s fourth ton against the West Indies….!!
Kohli was in mouth-watering form after Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami had done the damage with the ball to limit the hosts to 205 for 9, Kohli took the attention to beat the West Indies away.
India lost Shikhar Dhawan early in the chase….!!
Indian Skipper along with Ajinkya Rahane stabilize India after the loss earlier.
He was careful, to begin with, but soon started flexing his muscles as India started getting nearer to his target.
After Ajinkya Rahane’s discharge, Kohli was joined by Dinesh Karthik and both of them strung together an unbeaten 122-run stand as India clinched the target with 79 balls to spare and 8 wickets in hand.
