A four-story building subsided in Bhiwandi district due to which three lost their lives and nine others left wounded. Santosh Kadam, Regional Disaster Management Cell chief told that the incident happened at 9 AM.
A senior district administration official told that the National Disaster Response Force squad had reached there to rescue the people. He said that the civic officials and Senior police also rushed there.
Three dead were Ruksar Yakub Khan (18), Jaibunissa Rafique Ansari (61) and Asfaque Mustaque Khan (38). As per District Disaster Management Control Officer, Asmita Nikam, many others were feared trapped under the remains of ‘Tahir Biznor’ building.
The wounded people include a six-year-old kid that has been admitted to the Civic Hospital and Maharastra-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
A case under many related sections of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act and Indian Penal Code has been filed against the owner of the building, 46-year-old Mohammad Tahir Rafique Ahmed Ansari who fleed from the spot as per the report by Firstpost.
As per the report, At least eight families had been there in the collapsed building.
“THE DEAD BODY OF RUKSANA KHAN WAS TAKEN OUT FORM THE LEFTOVERS, AND FIVE OTHER PEOPLE WERE SAVED AND ADMITTED TO STATE RUN INDIRA GANDHI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.”
The tehsildar of BhiwandiShashikant Gaikwad said that the building was nearly ten years old and it was not even on the list of dangerous buildings.
A combined force of the NDRF teams and a fire-brigade squad from Bhiwandi, Kalyan civic bodies, Thane, Navi Mumbai, had started rescue and relief work. The operations were started at 6.45 AM.
