A 23-year-old law student from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala was raped for 8 years by a 54-year-old godman. She told the police that she castrated the genitals of Swami Ganeshananda aka Hari Swami, an inhabitant of the Panmana Ashram.
The swami has been admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College hospital in a critical condition.
The victim told police that on Friday night that she acted in self-defence after the godman tried to rape her again.
Doctors performed an emergency surgery on him. However, according to hospital officials, 90% of his penis was chop off and he gentiles not in a state to be surgically re-attached.
The swami is a native of Kollam who was allegedly molesting and raping her the past 6 years since she was in class 12 (16 years old).
According to the report, in an effort to cover up his crime the police told that he himself cut off his sexual organ and that he was not attacked by anyone.
The cops who have shifted the victim to a shelter home isn’t buying his version of the story.
A case has also been filed a criminal case against the swami under various sections of the POCSO act (protection of children from sexual offenses act).
According to reports, Swamy Ganeshananda visited her house to pray for her father who was paralyzed.
According to the police complaint, the victim told the police:
On Friday night, the victim had kept a knife ready in her room, which she used to attack the swami when he tried to rape her.
While attempting another rape, she took a sharp object and chopped off his penis.
Even the Kerela state Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan has applauded her act as BRAVE.
In a press conference, he said:
What is even more shocking is that the mother of the girl was aware of what is happening.
It is supposed that she was in some kind of relationship with the swami who was a regular at their home for poojas after the victim’s father became paralyzed a few years ago.
The police have taken the mother into custody by for interrogation.
The statement issued by the hospital where the swami has been admitted read like this:
Meanwhile, the Panmana Ashram where the swami resides has distanced itself from him. In a statement, the Ashram said the accused had studied there 15 years ago and had left after completing his studies.
