Post encountering a dull reply to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus international and in India, Apple has recently claimed the successful delivery of iPhone X smartphones.
Foxconn (Apple supplier ) while facing difficulty in meeting demands for the production delays has recruited thousands of school students to build iPhone X that are being asked to work overtime forcefully.
As per The Financial Times report, the student workers range in the age of 17 to 19. They were recruited as interns in September and were forced to work for three months at the assembling unit in China’s Zhengzhou to get “WORK EXPERIENCE FOR ATTAINING A GRADUATE DEGREE.”
Yang who develops at least 1,200 cameras of iPhone X in a day said:
“THE WORK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OR STUDIES. WE ARE BEING FORCED BY OUR SCHOOL TO WORK THERE.”
She is one of the student form workers group of nearly 3,000 students from Urban Rail Transit School in Zhengzhou.
The report said:
“FOXCONN AND APPLE ADMITTED THAT THEY HAVE FOUND CASES OF STUDENT INTERNS WORKING OVERTIME AND SAID THAT THEY WERE TAKING IMMEDIATE ACTION. AND BOTH FIRMS SAID THAT STUDENTS WERE WORKING WITH THEIR WISH.”
According to the Foxconn, it’s internship was operated in alliance with the local governments and plenty of vocational schools in China.
The Guardian reported that three more Foxconn production plants in China were set in breach of many safety and health regulations and additional working hours, five years back.
Executive Director of NY-based nonprofit China Labour observer, Li Qiang said:
“WHEN THE PRODUCTION DEMANDS IT, APPLE COMPANY TOTALLY IGNORED THE LABOUR STANDARDS THAT THEY HAVE SET. APPLE ALLOWS FACTORIES TO CREATE WORKERS TO OUT EXTRA HOURS WITHOUT LIMITATION. AND ASKED THE STUDENT WORKERS TO WORK IN NIGHT SHIFT.”
Few analysts had alerted that the device’s stock on hand is inadequate owing to limited supply of the vital components of iPhone X.
