Facebook has rolled a new feature of automatic detection artificial intelligence(AI) technology. It will help to will scan all the posts for patterns that have used suicide feelings, and whenever necessary will send mental health resources to the Fb user at risk.
With the use of AI, it will filter the stressing posts rather than waiting for the user reports and thereby the giant will minimize the time taken to send help to the victim.
Guy Rosen (Vice president product management) wrote:
“THIS IS ABOUT SHAVING OFF MINUTE AT EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE PROCEDURE MAINLY IN FACEBOOK LIVE.”
“WHEN SOMEONE IS EXPRESSING FEELING ABOUT SUICIDE, IT’S VITAL TO HELP THEM IMMEDIATELY.”
AND FACEBOOK IS A PLACE WHERE FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE LINKED, AND WE ARE ABLE TO HELP CONNECTING THAT PERSON IN STRESS WITH THE PEOPLE WHO CAN SUPPORT THEM AND IT’S PART OF OUR PRESENT EFFORT TO HELP CREATE A SAFER COMMUNITY ON AND OFF FACEBOOK”.
Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook CEO) applauded the product and said:
Rosen further added:
“WE HAVE TALKED TO THE HEATH EXPERTS AND THE BEST METHOD TO STOP SUICIDE TO HELP THE PEOPLE IN NEED. IT PUTS FACEBOOK IN A UNIQUE POSITION, AND WE CAN HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE IN TRAUMA TO CONNECT TO THE ORGANIZATION AND FRIENDS THAT CAN ASSIST THEM”.
Facebook has earlier tested AI to identify distressing facebook posts and more prominently suicide and even the reporting options to friends in the United States.
The creepy/scary/malicious use of AI will be a risk forever, which is why it's important to set good norms today around weighing data use versus utility and be thoughtful about bias creeping in. Also, Guy Rosen and team are amazing, great opportunity for ML engs to have impact. https://t.co/N9trF5X9iM

Facebook also will use Artificial intelligence to prioritize mainly risky user reports so that they must be noticed instantly by the moderators and the tools to address local language resources and the first-responder contact details immediately.
This new technology is helping people to prevent suicide, train them how to deal with these cases 24*7. At present, the firm has nearly 80 local partners such as National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Save.org, and Forefront which offer resources to users who are prone to damage and their networks too.
