Ganesh Chaturthi (Vinayaka Chaturthi) is the most popular festival that reveres God Ganesha. It is the day when Lord Shiva gave an elephant head to his son Ganesha and declared him as superior to all the gods. Many states of India like Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, and more celebrate this festival with a boom. Modak is considered the favorite food of Lord Ganesha. The recipes vary from the state to state.

1. Rava Laddo

You can make the rava laddoos at your home from the grated coconut, and sugar and roasted rava. This dessert recipe is also quite easy to make.

You Will Need:

a) 100 gm semolina
b) 100 gm ghee
c) 1 handful of cashews
d) 1/2 coconut
e) 100 gm sugar
f) 1 handful of almonds
g) 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder
h) 1/2 tsp powdered green cardamom
i) 1 tablespoon raisins


a) Take a glass bowl and then add grated coconut to it.
b) Now add sugar and keep it mixture to one side.
c) Heat a not stick pan over the medium flame and add semolina in it.
d) Roast the rava until it becomes slight brown
e) Switch off the stove and add ghee, grated coconut, and sugar to it.
f) Mix them well and add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder to it.
g) Once the mixture gets ready, start making the laddoos.
h) Embed the dry fruits in your palm while making laddoo.
i) Store them in an air-tight container.

2. Motichoor Laddoo

This Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates with the goodness of the yummy Motichoor Ladoos and adds sweetness to your mood.

You Will Need:

a) 2 cup gram flour
b) 3 cups ghee
c) 1 tsp green cardamom
d) 1/2 liter milk
e) 1 pinch baking soda
f) 1/2 tsp edible food color

For the Main Dish:

a) 4 cup water
b) 3 cup sugar
c) 3 cup ghee
d) 1/4 cup milk


a) Firstly, make sugar syrup by heating the water in a big pan over the medium flame.
b) Now add sugar and stir it well.
c) After it gets boiled, add milk and simmer it for 5 minutes.
d) If any scum appears, eliminate it.
e) Then add orange food color and cardamom powder.
g) Stir them well and keep it to one side.
h) Now take a big bowl and mix flour and milk till it becomes a smooth paste.
i) Add baking soda and combine well.
j) Then heat the ghee in a big frying pan.
k) After it gets hot, cooks the mixture till it becomes golden and soft.
l) Now put them on a tissue to eliminate the excess oil.
m) Put them in the sugar syrup.
n) Cool them well and shape into tiny ladoos using your hands.
o) Finally, store them in an airtight container.

3. Banana Sheera

Serve the delicious Banana Sheera to your family to get a lot of blessings.

You Will Need:

a) 1/4 cup semolina
b) 2 tbsp melted ghee
c) 4 tbsp sugar
d) 1 tbsp soaked raisins

For garnishing:

Two pinch green cardamom powder

For the main dish:

1/4 cup milk


a) For the banana sheera, roast semolina in the ghee till you get an amazing aroma.
b) Boil the milk and lower the heat.
c) Now add roasted rawa, sugar, and bananas one by one.
d) Mix well and add cardamom powder and raisins
e) Cook well till the blend gets thick.
f) Serve it cold or hot with the chopped dry fruits.

4. Makhana Kheer

It is a yummy dessert recipe served with the dry fruits. This famous North Indian recipe is made using lotus seed pops (makhana), cashew, ghee, sugar, milk, saffron, and almonds. This dish is made usually on Navratri and Ganesh Chaturthi. But you can also serve this dessert during a kitty party, family get-together, or any special event.

You Will Need:

a) 8 almonds
b) 250 grams of lotus seed pops
c) 500 ml milk
d) 1 pinch saffron
e) 120 grams sugar
f) 8 cashews
g) 4 tbsp ghee


a) Take a pan and then add ghee to it.
b) Heat it on a low flame.
c) Now add cashews, almonds and lotus seed pops.
d) Roast them well till the seeds get crunchy and golden.
e) Then keep them to one side.
f) Add milk to a thick pan and boil it.
g) Grind the roasted seeds thoroughly in a blender.
h) Add the sugar to the boiled milk, and after that add saffron, cardamom powder, and powdered lotus seed pops blend.
i) Stir it well on low flame for about ten minutes till the mixture gets soft.
j) Simmer it for few more minutes.
k) Finally serve it hot.
