Agartala: Border Security Force has nabbed a Bangladeshi smuggler with 1.5 kg of gold, which he had smuggled into India.
The smuggler entered Tripura on Monday via Srimantapur immigration check post.
After entering in India, he then went to Agartala Airport to fly to Kolkata by an IndiGo flight during a security check.
CISF personnel noticed metal detector fixed on his shoes. The jawan told him to take off his shoes and sent them through X-Ray.
The gold smuggler has been identified as “Ahamad Md. Liton”..!!
He is a resident of Moynamati Bazar area of Bangladesh’s Comilla district.
The security forces arrested him today at Srimantapur land customs station of West Tripura.
Ahamad went in a corner and left the gold biscuits and chain in a tray and sent his shoes for scanning in a separate tray.
Later, he passed via metal detector securely and checked in security enclosure.
The excise officials handed the 29-year-old smuggler over to Sonamura police station where he has been cross-questioned by a squad of senior police officials, including intelligence officers.
Police said here today that he is supposed to be brought back to Agartala for an investigation into the matter after due legal formalities.

In the survey of CCTV footage inside the Agartala airport, CISF personnel confirmed that Ahamad had been carrying the gold chain and biscuits inside the shoes and when he was asked to take off his shoes, he kept the gold in a corner. He was scared whenever the gold load is seized he will be caught red-handed.

To avoid the arrest from high-security zone Ahamad, he then safely escaped from the Agartala airport with 1.6-kilogram gold after canceling his flight ticket last evening when he was traveling back to Bangladesh.
He entered Tripura with valid documents on June 9, 2017, last via Srimantapur Land Customs Station of Sonamura in West Tripura.
The CISF authority has handed over the gold to excise officials.
However, police alerted BSF and other security forces about the Ahamad and the investigation began how he had crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border with such a whopping amount of gold and how did he manage to escape amid tight security.
