Nine coaches of Nagpur Mumbai Duronto Express derailed near Asangaon, 70 km from Mumbai, Maharashtra on Tuesday morning at around 6:40 am.
The railway tracks were washed away due to heavy rains. Local trains have been affected by the mishap. The Central Railways officials said there had been no fatalities till now.

The top Central Railway officials are rushed to the incident spot to supervise relief and rescue operations, Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani said.
It was the fourth derailment in India in the last ten days….!!
According to the report, this is the fourth major derailment mishap in the past two weeks and the third affecting the Mumbai local sector in three days.
No casualties, injuries reported, officials said…!!
Central Railway tweeted that no injuries have reported so far.
Local train services between Mumbai-Thane affected..!!
The Officials said the suburban local train services of the Mumbai’s Central Railway and Thane were affected hitting morning peak hours and passenger traffic as well.
However, the railway official said that the Local train services between Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan remain unaffected.
Visuals showed that the travelers are making their way out of the derailed coaches on their own. Even the Electricity supply was cut off to prevent any loss of lives.
Rain, Landslides Blamed for Mishap…!!
A challenge to Nature’s anger, the Central Railways confirmed that a sudden landslide and torrential rains in Nashik is the exact cause of the derailment between Asangaon and Vasind Stations.

The chief PRO said, adding that the train driver did a “remarkable job” by applying the emergency brakes.
Rescue operations were hindered by incessant downpours, as rescue personnel was kept from reaching the incident location even an hour-and-a-half after the mishap.

However, the sources said that a portion of the railway tracks was ruptured after heavy rains in the Kasara Ghats for the past three days.
