Bodybuilding is mainly seen as a ‘men’s sport’. But Dehradun’s Bhumika Sharma broke all the stereotypes last week by winning the Miss World title in Venice, Italy.
She is not just another Miss World from India. After all, she’s a girl with strong muscle power who ruled at the World Bodybuilding Championship.
Bhumika Sharma made India proud after facing the rounds that mattered most.
She gained the most number of points in in three categories including ‘body posing’, individual fall and body posing.
The BodyBuilding Championship drew 50 competitors from different countries….!!
The BodyBuilding Championship consists of around 50 contestants from all over the world and she was one of the 27 Indians to rock that tournament.
But bodybuilding wasn’t her original choice….!!
Bhumika’s mother, Hansa Manral Sharma, was the head coach of ‘India women’s weightlifting team.’
She had initially wanted to become a shooter and wanted to grow that passion but fate had something else for her.
And in the end, she opted for bodybuilding after she got a chance three years ago during a shooting event in New Delhi for meeting with a motivating coach who changed her life.
Then, she opted for bodybuilding and began to clinch medals regularly.
The 21-year-old is now busy preparing for the ‘World Universe Championship’ that will be held in December 2017.
Bhumika even clinched the gold medal at the world championship in Venice held last week.

Bhumika tried hard to convince her parents…!!
As she is the only child of his parents, it was not that easy for Bhumika to convince her parents to opt for bodybuilding.
After initial unwillingness, her parents finally gave her the indicated her to continue her Bodybuilding passion.
She follows a strict schedule at the gym for up to 7 hours a day….!!
Her mother keeps a tab on her schedule and shares tips from time to time. And her coach, Bhupendra Sharma ensures she remains impressive.
Bhumika is the only female bodybuilder from Uttarakhand who has made her mark in the national or international events.
