In another cruel incident of an acid attack in Uttar Pradesh, a man allegedly attacked her wife with acid. She poured acid to her genitals when she denied doing sexual intercourse with him.
The victim was critically injured and cried for help. She was admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. UP police have registered an FIR against the culprit, and an investigation is on into the matter.
As per the victim, her husband was forcing her to have sex, but when she denied he threw harmful chemicals on her private part, which resulted in a severe injury.
The culprit is from a Behrin Village of Kotwali District, and they have two children together. According to the report, the couple HAD A FIGHT on some issue. On getting further information from the neighbors, the family members of the victim a said see is very critical.
The horrific incident comes at a time when the India is debating ‘marital rape’ issues even as Centre continues to oppose it. On October 11, the apex Court had said that sex with wife less than 18 years of age would be regarded as rape.
The court added that “violation of Articles 14, 15 and 21 of Constitution to the extent that it allows intrusive sex with a girl having age between 15 and 18 years, only on the basis that she has been married.”
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was also registered in Delhi High Court seeking to criminalize marital rape. The PIL also requests that marital crime should be punished and treated as a ‘rape.’
The appeal has also asked the provisions of abuse to be regarded gender neutral. As per to the father of the victim, he said that we had filed a complaint against three other people and investigation is going on.
